What it is:

It’s our annual Presidents Day Weekend 5-DAY EVENT!

This year is our 6th annual gathering of LDS Single Adults. It’s an EXCITING time to meet new friends and reacquaint with old ones in Fabulous Las Vegas! We will have dinners, dances, service projects, great speakers, fireside, games, various wholesome activities, and a hike in the beautiful Red Rock Canyon. You don’t want to miss this 5-day event. Matthew L. Cox

Matthew L. Cox

Matthew L. Cox is a husband and father first, cherishing his family life with his wife Selene and their two sons, Mateo and Ransel, in Las Vegas.

Known for his extraordinary ability to listen deeply and intuitively understand others’ needs, Matthew combines a unique talent for seeing both the present and the future in business and relationships. His intuitive spirit and problem-solving skills have helped countless individuals and organizations achieve their goals and desired outcomes.

As a certified Bloom coach, True Colors facilitator and founder Company Xceleration, Matthew empowers companies to scale smarter while fostering team health and alignment. Formerly the leader of one of Nevada’s largest mental health agencies (2012–2021), he now specializes in leadership development, relationship coaching, and personal growth.

An inspiring speaker and author of The Courage to Learn Differently, Matthew conducts workshops on personality dynamics, team building, and couples communication. He also leads the Mental Health Coalition Las Vegas, advocating for equity and access in mental health care. Matthew’s passion for helping others and his visionary approach continue to leave a lasting impact on families, businesses, and communities.

 

Tyler Wilkinson

Tyler Wilkinson grew up in St. George, Utah where he attended Dixie High School and earned All-State honors in football, baseball and won the 3A wrestling championship in his weight class. He also met his future wife, Jennifer. During the spring of his senior year, shortly after signing a letter of intent to play both college football and baseball, Tyler broke his neck in an automobile accident, leaving him a quadriplegic.

Following his accident Tyler attended and graduated with highest honors from Dixie Jr. College and SUU.

While attending college, Tyler and Jennifer were married in 1994. Events of Tyler and Jennifer’s lives are told by Hall of Fame Quarterback Steve Young in the best-selling film “Tyler: A Real Hero.” The film has been aired both nationally and internationally and has resulted in Tyler and Jennifer sharing their message of faith and perseverance more than a thousand times to professional, civic, and church organizations around the world.

Tyler lives in St. George, and is a Partner, CFO and CCO of the firm, Soltis Investment Advisors. He is currently serving as Ward Mission Leader. He and Jennifer have been married for 30 years and they have five wonderful children.

 

David S Davis

“Becoming What God Intended Us to Become”

David will share his insights on “Becoming What God Intended Us to Become.” Drawing from his life experiences, spiritual journey, and faith, he aims to inspire attendees to embrace their divine potential and trust in God’s plan for their lives.

David S. Davis was born and raised in Las Vegas. He graduated from Las Vegas High School and continued his education at Dixie College in St. George, Utah, where he met his wife, Karen Keeley, after returning from the Canada Halifax Mission. David furthered his studies at Southern Utah University (SUU) and Brigham Young University (BYU) before pursuing optometry school in California.

David and Karen are blessed with seven children and 13 grandchildren. David enjoys hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, and canyoneering. His newest passion, woodturning, emerged during the COVID-19 shutdown and has become a cherished creative outlet.

David has a deep love for the Book of Mormon. He finds great peace and purpose worshiping in the temple regularly. He also enjoys taking on work projects around the house, and is renowned among his children for “one hour” work projects that never live up to their name.

Nevada Las Vegas East Mission

Krist McFarland and Sheryl McFarland, have five children, are from the North Field 2nd Ward, Pleasant Grove Utah, North Field Stake and are now serving as Mission President and his wife in the Nevada Las Vegas East Mission.

Brother McFarland is a Primary teacher and a former stake president, stake presidency counselor, bishopric counselor, ward Young Men president, ward Sunday School president and missionary in the Kentucky Louisville Mission. He was born in Mount Ayr, Iowa, to Gary Ray McFarland and Susan Kaye McFarland.

Sister McFarland is an institute teacher and former ward Relief Society president, ward Primary president, Young Women adviser, Relief Society teacher, Primary teacher, Primary music leader and Primary pianist. She was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Alvin Floyd Williams and Ruth Marian Williams.

Help weed, harvest, clean the garden. They have shovels and gloves but bring your own if you prefer. Also, bring your garden shears if you have them. Don’t forget your sun screen, hat, water.

We start on a spiritual note with a Temple session at the Las Vegas Temple on Thursday for those who wish to participate.

Then, we all get together for dinner Thursday Night!

This year we’ve organized some daytime fun on Friday even before registration officially opens at 5pm…

Mike O’Callaghan-Pat Tillman Hoover Dam Overlook Bridge

Friday morning we’ll round up the group and head over to the Mike O’Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge to get a breathtaking view of the Hoover Dam!

The bridge rises 890 ft above the Colorado river. It’s the second tallest bridge in the country, and it’s as much a modern engineering marvel as the dam itself!

Then, we’ll all stop by the lovely Hemenway Valley Park in Boulder City to see the majestic Bighorn Sheep that come down from the mountains to gather and graze.

From there we’ll stop at the historic Boulder Dam Hotel and have lunch in The Restaurant 1933. This hotel also houses the Boulder City Hoover Dam Museum you can check out at your leisure.

Friday February 14

Day time activities:

Exciting Excursion!

10am – meet at the chapel 485 Mission Dr. Henderson, NV 89002 for morning snack before starting our excursion. We leave no later than 10:20 and car pool to:

Mike O’Callaghan-Pat Tillman Hoover Dam Overlook Bridge

Striking 890ft high above the Colorado River, providing visitors with spectacular views of the surrounding desert landscape and the Hoover Dam.

11:30am – we leave the bridge and head over to:

Hemenway Park where we can watch Big Horn Sheep that come down from the mountains to water and graze. There’s also a nature trail located northeast of the park.

12:30pm – we leave the park and head over to:

Boulder Dam Hotel, built in 1933 that houses the Boulder City Hoover Dam Museum which tells the story of the men and women who braved the desolation of the southern Nevada desert to build Hoover Dam and established Boulder City.

1:00pm – Lunch (pay own) at the restaurant in the hotel appropriately named 1933.
